Hey Ya'll

So its out. The DVD is here that I worked on. Its on the 3-Disc set and has the Christmas Carol logo on the front. I worked on this project for six months and painted 80-90% of all the BG's on the short. Big thanks to the Director Troy Quane, Producer Kurt Albrecht, and my Art Director Andy Gaskill. You guys made me feel very welcomed and I had a great time working on the project. I also want to thank Dan Ridgers and all the crew at DUCK Studios.

Ill post some of the artwork soon, so you can see it before After Effects got their hands on it.

Saturday Evening Post for the Folks!!

So my parents anniversary was yesterday and my Dad asked the day before for this drawing. I was like, "Come on Dad, alittle more notice then that." So having a great appriciation for the Black and White illustrations where they added red (or one color) to the image, I decided to do it like those old illustrations. I even added there anniversary date to the cover also. I like it for a quick job.

Deus Libris: An Illustrated Collection

So I had the pleasure of being asked to be apart of this illustrated book. Dues Libris is a compilation art book that features 30 artists. It is a illustrated mythology book, of different mythologies from around the world. It is also the second book in the series. It was great to be apart of it and great to see all the great art in the book. Also a great book for kids studying Greek mythology and cultures in school!

Irdlirvirisissong (Inuit/Eskimo) - Sometimes Irdlirvirisissong comes out into the sky to dance and clown and make people laugh. But if anyone is nearby, the people must restrain themselves or he will dry them up and eat their intestines.

I really liked this one. It's probably because of the landscape. I did a lot of visual development on my own for the windmill. Kind of fell in love with it and doing all the research. I'll post those soon

...Went to this great Irish Pub in Lansdale, PA. Did the drawing of the kid (host) with his hand on the table, and had all the staff at the pub laughing. They were all saying it looked just like him....

...I think my favorite bird is the Scarlet Ibis. Did these from memory. Even stretched the legs a bit on a couple of them.

So I'm wrapping up on a special project for Sony Pictures Animation that I have been working on for the past months through DUCK studios. It's Top Secret though. So you cant see any of the art yet. Just hold you breath!! I'm so excited and proud of it. The work on all aspects looks just awesome. Great job to everybody that is involved.

Mighty B - BG Test Nickelodeon

Hey All, here was a BG I did while I interned at Nickelodeon. It was for the show the Mighty B, a great show and short lived. It was a good test because I had to create my own brushes for the show and create washes as apart of the test. Thanks to Seonna Hong for giving me the test and being generous in her time to sit and chat with me. That was one of the treats of being at Nickelodeon, the staff wanted you to talk with those that would be beneficial to you and the work you were doing.

Hey everyone!!

So since I need to wait to post stuff from the BG's that I'm working on now. Here are some of the past paintings that I've worked on for a music video for Brandi Carlile. The Director for this project was Monkmus. I had a great time working with him. It was a different project for me that the organic nature of the paintings and the textures that we used, which is based off the directors style, different from the work i usually do. I had a lot of fun with this, painted 70+ paintings in a two week period. Crazy!! You can checkout the video here. Brandi Carlile music has been featured on Grey's Anatomy. And the song "The Story", which is the music video, was on a General Motors commercial which aired during the Beijing Olympic Games.

So Ive been working at Duck Studios since February. They are a Commercial Animation Studio. Ive worked on a Music Video for the song "the Story" by Brandi Carlile and I am currently working on a Smurfs Project for Sony Pictures Animation. It's so awesome!! I get to work with Art director, Andy Gaskill (Lion King, Hurcules and Treasure Planet), and I get to have him look at my work.

Top Three Interns

So as most of you know I was interning at Nickelodeon Animation Studios. I had such a great time at the studio. I also won an award for being one of the Top Three Interns called the SPLAT Award. It was such a surprise and I am so grateful for being chosen for this award. Thanks Josilin and Ashley, and all my friends at Nickelodeon.

Haven't posted any of the work that I had done last semester. I took one of Dana's Special Studies Animation Class, and managed to work on some Visual Development work. Since alot of it is still color based I wanted to build this portfolio up. Some of it is new work and old ones that I am building on. Okay so I finally have some pictures up from the show. It was a good show, had alot of people go through, about 2200 people, according to the door counter and minus the repeat visitors. Official Corel® Painter Bookazine Vol. 02

Now that school has commenced, I just wanted to let you know of a show that I have going on. It is in the Titan Student Union at California State University, Fullerton. This show is in preparation of my Final show for the Masters in Illustration which will be in October.
The Center Gallery features seven pieces from the Hotrod and car Kulture that I have been working on. Also features three displays of the work that I have done for Painter Magazine.

My dad saw this scene at an automotive shop and told me the story so I decided to illustrate it.

so here it goes...

My dad takes the truck into an automotive shop to get some electrical work done. When he walks up he sees this scene. An Old man has a ladder in the bed of the truck and he is telling the kid in the truck to pull the truck forward as he paints.

My dad is always wanting me to do an illustration of these stories....so here you go pop!

So I just received a correspondence from Mary, the Arts Administrator for the City of Redmond. She said they want to purchase "Into the Distance" for exhibition on a permanent basis as part of the City's art collection. This was piece was one of three I had in the Digital Arts festival, that can be seen below in past posts. It's a pretty good feeling. Thanks Mary.

Entered this festival over the summer. And I'll have three pieces in the exhibit. Into the distance, hood ornaments, and london docks. They even framed the work for me. And after the Festival it will be on display at the Redmond City Hall. Redmond is just east of Seattle and home of Microsoft. It would be a nice place to work after school is done! I love it up there.

"Bring it on Saturday" is a painting I did that has major influences from my Dad. When ever my car would be having trouble on monday, he would tell me to bring it on Saturday and will take a look at it!!! That's a week away, I never understood it!!!

Also, I always remember sticking the tools in my pocket and they would be way to big. There's other little details.....but that for me and my Dad. Hope you enjoy!

Well everybody the summer started off pretty good. This was the Winner of the Illustration competition for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. It was a great honor to win and I am greatful to the SCBWI for choosing my piece.
